Local History Week

We had a workshop with a local archaeologist and metal detector expert today (Thursday). David brought in a large collection of artefacts including items found in Kirkby. He then demonstrated the metal detector in the school paddock. Such excitement when we found an Allen key, a school council badge! The most impressive find was a threepenny bit dated 1944. We are now fully hooked in for our local history week starting on Monday. David left a metal detector and probe with us to make use of during the week, so hopefully we will have more exciting finds!
